       GOD is also that which transcends both form and formlessness. He alone knows what all He is. What About God's Destination For the sake of those that love the Lord, He manifests Himself in various ways and in various forms. Verily He is not bound by any limitation as to the forms of manifestation, or their negation. God has form and, again, He is formless. Once upon a time, a sannyasi entered the temple of Jagannath. As he looked at the holy image he debated within himself whether God had a form or was formless. He passed his staff from left to right to feel whether it touched the image. The staff Seven touched nothing. He understood that there was no image before him; he concluded that God was formless. Next, he passed the staff from right to left. It touched the image. The sannyasi understood that God had formed. Thus he realized that God has form and, again, is formless. The fire itself has no definite shape, but as glowing embers, it assumes different forms. Thus the formless fire is seen endowed with forms. Similarly, the formless God sometimes invests Himself with definite forms. The sun is many times bigger than the earth, but distance GOD makes it appear like a small disc. So the Lord is infinitely great, but being too far away from Him, we are incapable of comprehending His real greatness. There is no distinction between Impersonal God ( Brahman ) on the one hand and Personal God ( Shakti ) on the other. It is one and the same Reality. When we think of It as inactive, that is to say, not engaged in the acts of creation, preservation, and destruction, then we call It Brahman. But when it engages in these activities, then we call It Kali or Shakti. Why does He not then attract a man? As iron deeply embedded in mud is not moved by the attraction of the mag net, SO the soul deeply imbedded in Maya feels not the attraction of the Lord. But as when the mud is washed away with water, the iron is free to move, so the soul when by constant tears of prayer and repentance washes away the mud of Maya that makes it cling to the earth, it is soon attracted by the Lord.

HOW TO REALIZE GOD remains hidden from such an earnest and important seeker. ' I must attain very life; yea, in God in this three days I must find Him; nay, with a single utterance of His name I will draw Him to me ' - with such violent Love the devotee can attract the Lord and realize Him quickly. But devotees who are lukewarm in their Love take ages to find Him, indeed, if they find Him at all. If God is omnipresent, why do we not see Him? Observing from the bank of a pool thickly covered with scum and weeds, you will not see the water in it. If you desire to see the water, remove the scum from the surface of the pond. With eyes covered with the film of Maya, you complain that you cannot see God. If you wish to see Him, remove the film of Maya from your eyes. A man must work. Only then can he see God. One can not develop a love of God or obtain His vision without work. Work means meditation, japan, and the like. The chanting of God's name and glories is work too. You may also include charity, sacrifice, and so on. cannot see one's face in a mirror if the mirror is covered with dirt. After the purification of the heart, one obtains divine love. Then one sees God, through His grace. Chant His name and purify your body and mind. Purify your tongue by singing God's holy name. When you are engaged in devotional practices, keep aloof from those who scoff at them, and also from those who ridicule piety and the pious. The magnetic needle always points to the north, and hence it is that the sailing vessel does not lose her direction. So long as the heart of man is directed towards God, he cannot be lost in the ocean of worldliness. Once a heron was slowly moving toward the edge of a pond to catch a fish. 

     Behind, there was a hunter aiming an arrow at it; but the bird was totally unmindful of this fact. The Avadhuta, saluting the heron, said: ' When I sit in meditation, let me follow your example and never turn back to see who or what is behind me. ' God cannot be realized if there is the slightest attachment to the things of the world. A thread cannot pass through the eyes of a needle if the tiniest fiber sticks out. As it is very difficult to gather the mustard seeds that escape out of a torn package and are scattered in all directions, It is not a very easy affair to ingather and concentrate the mind which runs after worldly things in diverse directions. The companionship of the holy and the wise is one of the main elements of spiritual progress. God is attained only when man gets established in one or other of these three attitudes. When the mind and speech unite in earnestly asking for a thing, that prayer is answered. Of no avail are the prayers of that man who says with his mouth, ' These are all Thine, O Lord ! ' and at the same time thinks in his heart that all of them are his. Be not a thought. Be a traitor in your sincerity; act according to your thoughts, and you shall surely succeed. Pray with a sincere and simple heart, and your prayers will be heard. To approach a mighty monarch a man must ingratiate himself with the officials who keep the gate and guard the throne. So, to reach the Almighty Lord and to obtain His grace, one must practice much devotion, serve many devotees, and keep for long the company of the wise. * Do not let worldly thoughts and anxieties disturb your mind. Do everything that is necessary for the proper time, and let your mind be always fixed on God. Pray to the Divine Mother, begging Her to give you unswerving Love and adamantine faith.

Once Rama was pleased with a prayer of Narada and told him to ask for a boon. Narada prayed for pure love and said further, O Rama, please grant that I may not be deluded by Thy world - bewitching Maya. ' 6 Rama said: " That is all right. But ask for something else . ' Narada replied: ' I don't want anything else. I pray only for pure love. " He who from the depth of his soul seeks to know God will certainly realize Him. He must. He alone who is restless for God and seeks nothing but Him will certainly realize Him. Can you weep for Him with intense longing of heart? Men shed a jugful of tears for the sake of their children, for their wives, or for money. But who weeps for God? So long as the child remains engrossed with its toys, the mother looks after her cooking and other household duties. But when the child no longer relishes the toys, it throws them aside and yells for its mother, then the mother takes the rice - pot down from the hearth, runs in haste, and takes the child in her arms. One cannot realize God without sincerity and simplicity.

Similarly, the devotee who patiently goes on with his devotions is sure at last to find his God. In the ocean of the world, there are six alligators: lust, anger, and so forth. But you need not fear the alligators if you smear your body with turmeric before you go into the water. Discrimination and dispassion are the turmerics. * * Q: How can we conquer lust? A: Look upon all women as your own mother; never look at the face of a woman, but look at her feet. All evil thoughts will then fly away.

One must have faith and sin city. To the sincere, God is very near; but He is far, far away from the hypocrite. When you find that the very mention of God's name brings tears to your eyes and makes your hair stand on end, then you will know that you have freed yourself from attachment to lust and gold ' and attained God. C Whether you accept Radha and Krishna or not, please do accept their attraction for each other. Try to create that same yearning in your heart for God.

What To Do For the Vision Of God

      Yearning is all you need in order to realize Him. There are various paths to reach God. Each view is a path. It is like reaching the Kali temple on different roads. But it must be said that some paths are clean and some dirty. It is good to travel on a clean path. to The nearer you come, God, the more you feel peace. Peace, peace, peace - supreme peace! The nearer you come to the Ganges, the more you feel its coolness. You will feel completely soothed when you plunge into the river JNANA ( KNOWLEDGE ) THE jnani , sticking to the path of knowledge, about the always Reality, reasons saying, ' Not this, not this. Brahman is neither this being. ' that ' ; It is neither the universe nor its living Reasoning in this way, the mind becomes steady. Then it disappears and the aspirant goes into samadhi. If one analyses oneself, one doesn't find any such thing as ' I '. Take an onion, for instance. First of all, you peel off the red outer skin; JNANA ( KNOWLEDGE ) you find thick white skin. Peel these off one after the other, and you won't find anything inside. In that state a man no longer finds the existence of his ego. And who is there left to seek it ? Who can describe how he feels in that state in his own Pure Consciousness - about the real nature of Brahman? So long as God seems to be outside and far away, there is ignorance. But when God is realized within, there is true knowledge. He who sees Him in the temple of his own soul sees Him also in the temple of the universe. As long as a man feels that God is there ', he is ignorant. But he attains knowledge when he feels that God is here ' . 6 * 6 A certain person asked Sri Ramakrishna, Kindly instruct me in one word so that I may be illumined. ' To which replied, ' The Absolute is the only reality; the universe is unreal - realize this and then sit silent. ' To follow Jnana yoga at this age is very difficult. First, a man's life depends entirely on food. Second, he has a sort of life. Third, rarely span can he get rid of body-con JNANA ( KNOWLEDGE ) consciousness; and the Knowledge of Brahman is impossible without the destruction of body consciousness. What is Jnana ( Knowledge ) in the highest sense? Says_the Jnani, O Lord, Thou alone ' Ö dost act in all this universe. I am but the smallest of tools in Thy hands. Nothing is mine. Everything is Thine. Myself, my family, my riches, riches, my virtues - all are Thine. " The master of the house is asleep in a dark room. Someone is groping in the darkness to find him. He touches the couch and says, ' No, it is not he. ' He touches the window and says, ' No, it is not he. ' He touches the door and says, ' No, it is not he. ' This is known in the Vedanta as the process of Neti,', ' Not this, this '. At last, his hand touches the master's body, and he exes claims, ' Here he is ! ' In other words, he is now conscious of the existence of the master. He has found him, but he doesn't yet know him intimately. 6 I have seen that the knowledge derived by reasoning is of quite a different kind from the knowledge derived through meditation, and quite different JNANA ( KNOWLEDGE ) from this again is the Knowledge that dawns by His revelation. * Knowledge leads to unity; ignorance to diversity. The Jnana yogi says, ' I am one, has He. But as long as the idea of the Self as body, this egotism is injurious. It does not help one's progress, and it brings about one's ruin. Such a person deceives himself and others. The inferior devotee says, God exists, but He is very far off, up there in heaven. mediocre devotee says, exists in all beings as life and consciousness. ' The superior devotee says: ' It is God Himself who has become everything; whatever I see is only a form of God. It is He alone who has become Maya, the universe, and all living beings. Nothing exists but God . '
